Amoh Rhodes

Part two of the Aegean series. AJ Bailey checks into Rhodes's newest resort and finds a 10 out of 10 hotel that could become the best in Greece.

Part two of my exploration of the Aegean Region took me to Rhodes to visit its newest addition, Amoh, which only opened its doors in April this year.

You can honestly see why so many people head to the Greek Islands for summer vacations. They are seriously stunning, and Rhodes could possibly be the most stunning island of them all.

Our transfer from the airport was an hour long, but honestly I'm glad it was because our driver George knew everything about the island. It was probably the best transfer I've ever had. You're taken through breathtaking mountainous scenery and suddenly come across some seriously beautiful spots scattered around the island, with the best saved until last. Lindos.

Lindos belongs on a postcard itself. The best way to describe it is Mykonos and Athens rolled into one small village. It's only 10 minutes away from Amoh and a great place to visit, but honestly the excitement has already been built from that village alone, as well as the turquoise sea along the coastline before you finally get to the hotel.

And then comes the arrival. For an island I honestly wasn't expecting Amoh as a resort to be so big and seriously beautiful. Straight away the bell boys are ready, and I've started to notice with the best hotels your luggage disappears without you even noticing.

I've never experienced warmth like it. Their kindness was effortless and so genuine.

For me the presentation of the hotel exterior, lobby, design of the reception, the smell of the interior and the staff presentation are now the first things I notice about a hotel. Amoh hit 10 out of 10 instantly with their front of house team, with Tommaso, Tzina, and Alex being the first I encountered and looking great.

I'll be honest, the Greeks, with the exception of Tommaso who's Italian, take the win for the best front of house hospitality I've experienced. Their warmth and kindness, similarly to Panoptis Escape with Eleni and Dimitra. I've never experienced warmth like it towards myself. Their kindness was effortless and so genuine, with Tommaso and Tzina in particular forming a connection with me instantly. The conversations with them were meaningful and something that really forged an affection from me towards the staff and hotel itself.

Visually the hotel is already one of the best resorts I've ever seen behind The Atlantis Royal and Marsa Al Arab in Dubai, but importantly it carries the Greek aesthetic with a chic modern twist. The pool looks like the water is made from glass and is surrounded by stunning sun beds and cabanas as well as a seating area with a fire pit.

Everything from the furniture to the pool area, dining lounges and cigar lounge is nothing short of perfection.

You can tell straight away the hotel has been so well planned out and a lot of investment put into it. Everything from the furniture to the pool area, dining lounges and cigar lounge is nothing short of perfection. High praise I know, but honestly you have to see it to believe it.

Now to my room. I booked the highest entry room, The Selene Suite, and this was the most beautiful room with the biggest pool of all the suites that I'm not ashamed to boast about. Everything about the Selene Suite was perfect, with an independent lounge, bedroom and outdoor terrace with a pool, but it was the noise of the crickets and view from the terrace that hypnotised me.

It's one of the best views and most relaxing experiences alongside The Atlantis Royal I've ever had in a hotel suite. It was amazing.

After that it was the Roda Presidential Villa, which I'll just leave for you to see in the photos. It needs no introduction.

As for the resort, I was given a free run to roam wherever I wanted to go and see whatever I wanted to see, accompanied by a member of Amoh staff. This is where I met Konstantinos, the manager of Glaze, one of Amoh's gorgeous on-site restaurants. Glaze is a fine dining restaurant with an indoor and outdoor dining experience with naturally beautiful views that only a few hotels other than Passalacqua in Como can boast about.

Konstantinos introduced me to all the staff including the head chef, and at this point I realised that Amoh was special. Their entire hotel team was completely unique, with each person I encountered being a great human being. That carried on into other areas of the hotel such as the boutique and dessert parlour with Eleni and Agathi.

The kindness transpired through the hotel into the hotel guests, and I was fortunate to be befriended by one on one of the evenings by a high profile person who I'll keep their identity private, who was staying at Amoh with her family. She initially mistook me for a famous person from her country. As we got talking it became apparent how nice she was and interested in what I do with filming and watching my work. I've kept in touch with her, but this was just another highlight of what was already becoming an incredible stay.

If ever there was a 10 out of 10 hotel, then Amoh is that place.

Now for the best until last, and why Amoh will be the best hotel in Greece in the not too distant future. It's one that I have come to love and would be more than happy to make my Greek destination each year.

On my departure, my flight wasn't until later in the evening, and that was where Alex from the front of house contacted me and at no extra cost offered and provided us a room to relax in before our driver came to pick us up. This to me just showed their character, which didn't end there. When I was leaving, the amazing front of house team, Tzina, Tommaso, Alex, and Thannos, all walked me out to my transfer and gave me a send off that only royalty receives.

This made me feel exceptional and such a gesture that touched me deeply, and one that I'll never forget with just how kind they were to me over the duration of my stay. To be honest they could just have been desperate to get rid of me. I'm only kidding.

But if ever there was a 10 out of 10 hotel, then Amoh is that place. It's as simple as that. Will Amoh Rhodes become the best hotel in Greece in the next few years? In my opinion, without question. There aren't many hotels as good as Amoh. I loved every second.
