Dave East and Harry Fraud have been building toward this for five years. Price of Pain, their first joint album since 2021's Hoffa, arrives 29 July with fourteen tracks and a feature list that reads like a roll call of New York rap's most reliable operators. Benny The Butcher, Styles P, Snoop Dogg, AZ, 38 Spesh, SUZI and Cruch Calhoun all appear, and the production stays firmly in Fraud's lane of cinematic, atmosphere-heavy beats that give East's street narratives room to breathe.
Two singles have already set the tone. Alley Oop, featuring Styles P of The LOX, arrived with a video directed by The Infamous Oz and established the album's thesis: Fraud's brooding, widescreen production paired with the kind of unflinching Harlem storytelling that has kept East relevant across a decade in the game. Everything Is Up, the second single, brings Benny The Butcher into the fold for a track that leans harder into the opulence. Fraud's beatwork has always operated in the space between street rap and film score, and both previews suggest Price of Pain will sit squarely in that pocket.
The reunion matters because Hoffa worked. That 2021 record pulled in Curren$y, G Herbo and French Montana across eleven tracks and proved that East's clipped, observational flow finds its best foil in Fraud's moody, textured production. Price of Pain widens the scope. Fourteen tracks instead of eleven. AZ, the Queensbridge veteran whose technical precision has influenced a generation, is a particularly sharp addition. Snoop Dogg's presence suggests a West Coast chapter. And 38 Spesh, the Rochester mainstay, adds another regional voice to what is already shaping up as a cross-coastal conversation.
East has been prolific this year. Four projects already, including the Eastmix series and For The Love 2.5. That is not an artist coasting between release cycles. It is someone sharpening the blade. Fraud, meanwhile, has spent the years since Hoffa expanding his reputation from French Montana hitmaker to one of the most distinctive producers working in the space where ambition and atmosphere collide. His sound is identifiable within four bars: layered samples, widescreen reverb, drums that hit clean and wide.
