For 13 years, Gymshark has been telling the world it is the gym brand. Now it is backing up the claim with a new location - and this time, it is taking the fight stateside. The Birmingham-born fitness giant has announced the Gymshark Lifting Club in Miamis Wynwood district - the brands first gym outside the UK, set to open this summer.

From Birmingham to Wynwood

Founded in 2012 by Ben Francis in a Birmingham garage, Gymshark became a DTC phenomenon - 20 million community members across 230 countries. The brand already operates a gym at its UK headquarters that is open to the public. But this Miami location marks something different entirely: the first time Gymshark is taking its physical training concept beyond its home turf and into the worlds most competitive fitness market.

Since going beyond online-only, Gymshark has opened retail flagships on Londons Regent Street, Manchester, Amsterdam, Dubai, and a major New York flagship on Bond Street in December 2025. The Lifting Club is the next evolution: from selling gym culture to owning the space where it happens.

The question Ive been asked the most over the past 13 years is when is Gymshark going to open a gym, Francis said. Our community has been crying out for it. I knew from my first visit that Miami was the only place for it.

Why Wynwood

The location is deliberate. Wynwood is Miamis creative nucleus - street art, fitness studios, bodybuilding gyms, and outdoor workout culture all converge in this neighbourhood. Gymshark has already held its trademark LIFT events in Miami, attracting tens of thousands of fitness enthusiasts. The Lifting Club is the next logical step: from event to institution.

Designed By the Community, For the Community

Full details on membership, facilities, and opening dates are still under wraps. But the positioning is clear: this is not a corporate gym chain. Francis described it as desired by our community, inspired by our community and, most importantly, for our community. The language is deliberate. Gymshark is not building a Planet Fitness. It is building a temple for people who already live in gym gear - and now they can do it inside a Gymshark-branded space.

We talk a lot about being THE gym brand, Francis added. I genuinely believe that opening our own gym only strengthens that claim. And, at the end of the day, a lot of people always assumed we owned gyms, purely because of the name. Well, now we do and I am so proud to say that We Do Gyms.

What It Means

This is not just a PR stunt. Industry observers are calling it a seismic shift. Gymshark already runs a gym at its UK HQ, but this Miami move signals a different ambition entirely: taking the physical experience global. From DTC apparel to retail flagships to now a US gym, the trajectory is clear - Gymshark is converting cultural authority into physical real estate.

Miami first. The world next. And for brands watching from the sidelines, the message is unmistakable - the brands that own the culture will eventually own the space.
