Ja Morant has had enough of early internet leaks spoiling his reveals. Rather than waiting for Nike's press machine to drip-feed imagery, the Memphis Grizzlies point guard took to Instagram and X to personally unveil his fourth signature basketball shoe, the Nike Ja 4, sharing a full gallery of close-up shots and a lineup of five vibrant colorways.
The Ja 4 marks a clear design departure from its predecessor. Where the Ja 3 was heavily branded and maximalist, the new silhouette is sleeker and more purposeful, drawing comparisons to modern football boots thanks to its low-profile, textured upper. A one-piece diamond-pattern construction wraps the foot, while an inverted Swoosh sits aggressively toward the heel, giving the shoe an assertive, forward-leaning stance.
Perhaps the cleverest detail is the midfoot reinforcement, which spells out Morant's initials. A jewelled Swoosh forms the J, with the A built directly into the side panelling. It is the kind of subtle personalisation that rewards a second glance without screaming for attention.
Five colorways debuted in the initial drop, each more eye-catching than the last. A deep navy base with soft green accents, an aqua and red combination, a bright fuchsia highlighted with gold, a deep royal blue, and a subdued black iteration with marbled detailing across the upper. The range suggests Nike is aiming squarely at both performance players and the lifestyle market, offering something for the court and the pavement alike.
Technical specifications have yet to be officially confirmed, though early reports point to a Cushlon 3.0 foam midsole paired with a ZoomX insole and improved carbon fibre support, a setup designed for the kind of explosive, direction-changing play that has become Morant's trademark. Notably, the Ja 4 line will also introduce the first high-top version of Morant's signature, reportedly featuring a laceless, mesh-covered design with a lockdown fit.
The standard low-top is expected to retail at $130 to $140 USD when it hits shelves in Fall 2026, with the high-top variant following for Holiday 2026 at $180 USD. Collaborations with Slam magazine and the Jaws licence are already rumoured for later in the year. If Morant's hands-on approach to the reveal is any indication, he intends to control the narrative around his line, and the Ja 4 suggests the product is worth listening to.
