This is the fifth consecutive World Cup where Louis Vuitton has been entrusted with the case for football's most iconic trophy. The tradition started in South Africa 2010, continued through Brazil 2014, Russia 2018, and Qatar 2022. Each edition is handcrafted at the Maison's Asnières workshops near Paris, the same atelier that has produced Louis Vuitton trunks since the 1860s.
The 2026 edition is the most expressive yet. The golden V across the front panels works double duty: Vuitton and Victory. Gold-plated brass corner protectors frame the monogram canvas exterior. The interior is lined in light beige leather with a central recess designed to hold the World Cup trophy, and a collaborative patch on the lid marks the Louis Vuitton x FIFA partnership.
The clasps and lock reference the original trunk hardware Louis Vuitton patented in the 19th century. Lozine leather trim runs along the edges. Every detail is functional: this is a case built to protect a trophy that is handled, lifted, and photographed on the world's biggest sporting stage, not a display piece for a boutique window.
Louis Vuitton has also released three limited-edition trunks inspired by the Trophy Trunk design: the Coffret 8 Montres, the Cotteville 16 Montres, and the Malle Courrier Lozine 110. Each carries the monogram canvas, hand-painted FIFA World Cup logo, and the golden V. Personalisation with initials is available. None will carry the trophy. That privilege belongs to Spain.
