Lucid has never been shy about chasing big numbers, and the new Gravity GT-S makes that abundantly clear. Unveiled at Monterey Car Week, the 2027 Lucid Gravity GT-S produces 1,070 horsepower from its dual-motor powertrain, claiming the title of America's most powerful three-row SUV.
The figure eclipses the now-discontinued Tesla Model X Plaid's 1,020 hp and edges past the Rivian R1S Quad's 1,025 hp. Lucid quotes a 0-60 mph time of 3.1 seconds, which is brutal for something designed to carry a family and their luggage in comfort. That matches the outgoing Dream Edition's benchmark, but the GT-S brings considerably more to the party than raw acceleration.
Chief Creative Officer Derek Jenkins calls it "a more expressive and exhilarating interpretation of the Gravity SUV," and the design language backs that claim. Inspired by the Lucid Air Sapphire, the GT-S wears distinctive blue accents throughout: painted brake calipers, blue piping across the first and second row seats, blue stitching on the steering wheel and door armrests, blue seatbelts, and the Lucid Bear logo embossed into the front headrests. It is a cohesive package that signals intent without shouting.
Standard equipment includes Lucid's Dynamic Handling Package, which adds independent rear-wheel steering and an adaptive three-chamber air suspension that lowers the vehicle at speed for improved stability. The outgoing Dream Edition managed 0.90 g on the skidpad, and the GT-S should meet or better that figure. Range and charging specifics have not been confirmed, but expect figures close to the Grand Touring's estimated 450 miles and 400 kW charging capability.
Perhaps the most significant detail is the price. At $127,750, the GT-S undercuts the Dream Edition by nearly $14,000 while delivering identical horsepower. That still represents a $30,000 premium over the 828 hp Grand Touring, but for buyers seeking four-figure horsepower in a vehicle that seats seven, the math starts to look reasonable. Order books are open now, with US deliveries expected to follow. The GT-S will be exclusive to the American market for the time being.
Monterey Car Week continues to be the stage where the world's most ambitious automakers reveal their most audacious creations, and Lucid's timing is deliberate. The GT-S will share the Concours Village at Pebble Beach with the Air Sapphire sedan, making the brand's performance pedigree impossible to ignore. For a company still proving it can deliver at scale, this is a confident statement of intent.
