When Bugatti launched the Veyron in 2005, its 1,001 PS output felt almost obscene for a road car. Twenty-one years later, Lucid has squeezed past that figure in a vehicle designed to carry seven adults and their luggage. The Gravity GT-S, revealed during Monterey Car Week, produces 1,070 horsepower and reaches sixty miles per hour in 3.1 seconds. It is, by Lucid's own reckoning, America's most powerful three-row SUV.

Sapphire Inspiration, Family Practicality
Drawing on the engineering philosophy behind the Air Sapphire, Lucid's performance flagship sedan, the GT-S adds roughly 20 per cent more power than the Grand Touring model. The dual-motor drivetrain channels output through all four wheels, while a standard Dynamic Handling Package adds independent rear-wheel steering and an adaptive three-chamber air suspension that lowers the body at speed for improved stability and efficiency.

The numbers alone are striking. A projected range of 373 miles, 200 miles of charge recoverable in 14 minutes on a suitable DC fast charger, and a top speed of 155 mph. Lucid also includes its Enhanced Launch Mode, an intelligent traction management system that turns full-power starts into something approaching theatrical. Third-row passengers may not thank you for demonstrating it.
Blue Accents and Mojave Interiors
Visually, the GT-S distinguishes itself from the rest of the Gravity range with blue exterior accents, painted blue brake calipers, and a cabin that trades the standard palette for something more deliberate. The Mojave PurLuxe Premium upholstery comes in charcoal with blue stitching, piping, and seatbelts across the first and second rows. Blue thread traces the steering wheel, door armrests, and centre console. Lucid Bear logo embossing appears on the front headrests. A Tahoe leather interior option adds $1,300.

Performance Without Compromise
Lucid's Chief Creative Officer Derek Jenkins described the GT-S as a more expressive and exhilarating interpretation of the Gravity SUV, and the specification supports that claim. Three-chamber air suspension keeps the ride composed when the road demands it, while rear-wheel steering tightens the turning circle for urban manoeuvring. NACS charging compatibility grants access to more than 30,000 DC fast chargers across North America.

Starting at $125,900 before destination, the GT-S sits at the top of the Gravity range and a long way from Lucid's entry-level Air at $72,400. Orders are open now, with deliveries expected late in 2026. Whether a 1,070-horsepower halo model solves Lucid's deeper production and financial challenges remains a separate question entirely. As a statement of engineering intent, though, it is difficult to argue with.
