Born from the union of Chery's manufacturing muscle and Huawei's intelligent technology stack, LUXEED held its Global Brand Launch on 21 October at Shenshan Intelligent Valley in Wuhu, China. Themed "Intelligence, Enlightened," the event marked the official coming-out party for a brand that wants to rewrite what luxury means in the electric age. Two flagship models took centre stage: the Stormax performance SUV and the LLounge intelligent luxury MPV, each representing a distinct interpretation of the same philosophy.

The Stormax: Performance First, Luxury Throughout

The Stormax, known domestically as the RX, is a large five-seat SUV designed by Werner Gruber. It stretches 5,020 mm long with a 3,000 mm wheelbase, riding on 20- or 22-inch wheels with a staggered tyre setup. The exterior is sharp and low-slung, with L-shaped headlights and what the brand calls a 1.26 sports-car proportion. At the rear, a taillight unit fitted with 10,000 randomly arranged crystal-like elements catches the light differently from every angle.

Under the skin, the Stormax offers single-motor rear-wheel drive with 277 kW (371 hp) or dual-motor all-wheel drive producing 437 kW (586 hp). Three battery options ranging from 81.1 to 100.42 kWh deliver a CLTC range of up to 852 km, or 574 to 699 km under the more demanding WLTP cycle. The front seats pack 98 sensors and 27 air bladders that adjust support in real-time based on driving conditions and occupant posture, plus a 16-point massage system that adapts to the body of whoever is sitting behind the wheel.

The LLounge: A Mobile Living Room

If the Stormax is built for the driver, the LLounge is built for everyone else. The seven-seat MPV measures 5,359 mm long with a 3,250 mm wheelbase and a 2+2+3 layout. Second-row passengers get zero-gravity seats with a 123-degree recline angle, four-way power leg rests and independent electric footrests. A mechanical massage system offers four techniques targeting the back and waist, while 12 dual-layer acoustic laminated glass panes keep the cabin hushed. A 33-speaker sound system rounds out what is effectively a mobile listening room.

The LLounge comes standard with an extended-range electric powertrain, pairing a 1.5-litre range extender with a 53.4 kWh battery. Pure electric range sits between 285 and 305 km CLTC, with the dual-motor AWD variant producing 382 kW (512 hp). Smart privacy glass, sunshades and a Privacy Acoustic Shield mode give occupants full control over their environment. An 896-line LiDAR sensor and rear-wheel steering round out the technical package.

LUXEED global lineup plan: three model lines and six vehicles by 2030

Six Models, Three Lines, One Global Ambition

LUXEED's roadmap extends well beyond these two launch vehicles. The brand plans to develop three model lines for global markets, with the Stormax and LLounge each anchoring their own series. A third SUV line will add four models tentatively named 3, 5, 7 and 9, each available with three powertrain options and positioned as more luxurious alternatives to the Stormax. These four models are being developed specifically for international markets and do not form part of the current domestic Chinese line-up.

The expansion strategy is aggressive but structured. LUXEED plans to enter 18 markets in 2026 and 2027, including the UAE, Thailand and Indonesia, before expanding to 36 markets by 2028 and 2029 and reaching more than 60 by 2030. Australia is among the first countries in line for the Stormax and LLounge. Notably, the overseas models will ship without Huawei's software and hardware, a shift that reflects both regulatory complexities and Chery's desire to build a standalone global identity for the brand.

A New Kind of Luxury

What sets LUXEED apart from the flood of Chinese EV brands eyeing international expansion is its positioning. Rather than competing on price or specs alone, the brand is built around three core values: Extreme Driving Pleasure, Beyond-Class Enjoyment and Ultimate Intelligence. The promise is that intelligence, not horsepower or badge cachet, becomes the foundation of luxury. Whether the market agrees remains to be seen, but the first two vehicles suggest LUXEED is serious about backing that claim with hardware.
