Moncler has never been shy about its mountaineering roots. But with Re/Icons 2026, the Italian house digs deeper into its archive than ever before, pulling four landmark jackets out of storage and rebuilding them for a generation that may never climb a mountain but still wants to look like they could.

The Karakorum, Verone, Himalaya and Tibb each represent a different chapter in Moncler's 74-year story, from 1950s expedition gear to 1980s Milanese street style. The collection, built around the theme "Pioneers in Moncler with Extraordinary Dreams," pairs those alpine origins with modern construction and, for the first time, expands into full ready-to-wear looks beyond outerwear alone.

From K2 to the Champs-Elysees

The Karakorum carries the deepest history. Moncler made the original in 1954 for Achille Compagnoni and Lino Lacedelli, the Italian climbers who completed the first ascent of K2, the second-highest mountain on Earth. It was raw cotton filled with down. The 2026 version switches to a glossy 10-denier micro ripstop, cut in a rounded, enveloping shape that stays light. It keeps its practical features: a double snap-button front, a removable hood, a drawstring coulisse and internal shoulder straps that let it be carried like a backpack.

A set of shared details connects all four jackets. Each uses a camaieu technique, layering several shades from the same colour family for a rich, tonal finish. Inside, a label reproduces Vittorio Sella's photograph of K2, taken in June 1909. On the outside, metal logos fixed to the pockets borrow from the souvenir pins once collected in alpine towns.

The Paninari and the City

The Verone moves from the mountains to the city. It arrived in the 1980s and became a signature piece for Milan's Paninari, a youth scene that gathered around the city's cafes and treated the puffer as essential everyday wear. The new version uses lightweight matte micro cotton in a relaxed fit, with a pullout hood and a zip closure behind a buttoned storm placket. Women's colourways are pastel pink, lilac and black, while men's are navy, grey and black.

The Himalaya, the most recent of the four, debuted in 2009 and later evolved into the Moncler Maya. Its design traces back to the 1950s, when Moncler equipped French climber Lionel Terray for his first ascent of Makalu. The 2026 update uses a soft matte cotton-nylon blend in a relaxed fit and keeps the drawstring hood and logo-patch sleeve pocket.

Beyond the Jacket

The Tibb vest completes the lineup. Introduced in the 1980s, the oversized gilet is now reversible and comes in either recycled matte Longue Saison or wool gabardine. It keeps its boudin quilting, a double-zip closure with heritage round pullers and a metallic chest logo.

For the first time, Re/Icons covers head to toe. The new range includes windbreakers, T-shirts, pants and skirts, along with beanies, balaclavas and silk-twill foulards. Titanium-and-leather sunglasses based on vintage climbing goggles complete the accessories, pushing the collection into genuine lifestyle territory rather than simply revisiting old coats.

The archive story also extends to print and film. Alpine Diary is a book written as the journal of an invented 1950s explorer, pairing handwritten entries and black-and-white images of historic climbs with colour photography of the new collection. Moncler's first feature film collaboration, Bianco, stars Alessandro Borghi as climber Walter Bonatti and recreates the Karakorum for its cast. It arrives in theatres in January 2027.
