NIGO's relationship with Nike has produced some of the most sought-after collaborations in recent memory. This week, the Japanese designer deepens that partnership with a release that reaches back to the very origins of his career. The NIGO x Nike Last Orgy 2 Air Force 1 is not just another colourway. It is a love letter to the early '90s Harajuku scene that birthed modern streetwear.

The silhouette references Last Orgy 2, the magazine column NIGO co-authored with Jun Takahashi in the early 1990s before the pair opened their legendary Ura-Harajuku boutique, NOWHERE. That column was a blueprint for the cultural conversation that defined a generation of Japanese fashion, and this shoe carries those references directly into its construction. The Sail and Loyal Blue palette is colour-matched to the original NOWHERE storefront sign. Custom LO2 graphics land on the foxing and sock liner, while NIGO Air branding replaces traditional Swoosh placements.

What makes this particular Air Force 1 significant beyond the aesthetic is the silhouette itself. Nike has resurrected the 2001 profile of the AF1, complete with a narrower toe box and the athletic fit that defined the shoe at the turn of the millennium. It is a deliberate choice that mirrors the nostalgic pull of the LO2 concept, offering purists a shape that has not been readily available for over two decades.

The release also carries a limited apparel capsule, including a coaches jacket and T-shirt based on pieces the design duo originally created in 1993. The patent leather upper gives the shoe a high-gloss finish that elevates it above a standard retro reissue. Packaged in a special exclusive box, the entire collection reads as a considered archive piece rather than a quick-hit collaboration.

The NIGO x Nike LO2 Air Force 1 drops May 1 exclusively at the Design Museum in London, coinciding with the opening of NIGO: From Japan With Love, a major exhibition surveying his career from BAPE through HUMAN MADE and beyond. A wider release follows on May 2 via the HUMAN MADE webstore and UNDERCOVER Aoyama. With only 50 pairs of the accompanying Triple White 2GO Promo Sample produced for the exhibition, the LO2 launch is shaping up to be one of the most significant Nike collaborations of the year.
