Nike is not waiting for the first whistle at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Before a ball is kicked, the Swoosh has already dominated the global style conversation with the launch of its X2 Collection, an ambitious initiative that pairs seven of the world's most influential creative forces with their respective national football teams. The result is a seven-part reimagining of the all-new Nike Cryoshot, a lifestyle sneaker that transforms vintage pitch-ready boots into high-end, off-pitch heat.
The concept is straightforward but clever. Each partner selected an iconic Nike boot from the archives and reborn it as a Cryoshot, retaining the studs visible beneath icy clear outsoles. For Canada, Drake's NOCTA brings a sporty, tech-heavy gold and black execution to the Tiempo '94. England's Palace applies edgy black leather with Infrared hits to the Air Speed M, even enlisting Wayne Rooney to model the range. France sees Jacquemus elevate the Tiempo R10 into something runway-ready, dressed in refined white, royal and red.
The Netherlands gets the treatment from Amsterdam institution Patta, whose stunning Metallic Silver and Hyper Crimson take on the Mercurial Vapor R9 is arguably the collection's standout. South Korea's G-Dragon brings his PEACEMINUSONE label to the CTR360 Maestri II with bright, playful energy and distressed detailing. Nigeria, absent from the tournament but culturally inseparable from the World Cup conversation, is repped by British-Nigerian artist Slawn, whose hand-drawn graffiti covers the 1976 Striker in canvas and spray-paint.
The emotional centrepiece belongs to Team USA. The Virgil Abloh Archive, stewarded by Abloh's wife Shannon, applies The Ten's deconstructed language and unmistakable 'AIR' branding to the Zoom M9, nodding to Mia Hamm's World Cup legacy. It is both a tribute to the late designer and a reminder that women's football has always been central to the American story.
Beyond the footwear, each capsule includes a pre-match jersey honouring a local youth sport organisation, with Nike committing to long-term partnerships with each charity. It is a rare instance where the merchandising around a tournament feels genuinely purposeful rather than purely commercial.
The full seven-sneaker lineup sees a staggered rollout. Collaborator channels launch on 11 June, Dover Street Market follows on 13 June, and Nike SNKRS and select retailers go live on 16 June. Every pair is priced at $210 USD.
