When Nipsey Hussle was fatally shot outside his Marathon Clothing store on South La Brea Avenue in March 2019, the question of what would become of his unfinished music hung heavy over Los Angeles. His brother, Samiel "Blacc Sam" Asghedom, made the family's position clear: if Nipsey had not built the blueprint himself, it would not see the light of day. Seven years on, that blueprint is finally being honoured.
Prolific, a 15-track collaborative album recorded with longtime partner Bino Rideaux, arrives digitally on August 14 via All Money In, Out The Blue and Atlantic Records, one day before what would have been Nipsey's 41st birthday. The project reunites a creative partnership that first yielded 2017's No Pressure mixtape, but this is no archival scrape. According to Asghedom, the album was largely complete before Nipsey's passing, with trusted engineers Mixed By Ali and Cyrus Taghipour polishing the final product alongside producers Mike and Keys, Axel Folie, Larrance Dopson and Garnett "G" Flynn, many of whom shaped the Grammy-nominated Victory Lap.
Two singles have already landed. "Reckless," featuring the late Static Major, arrived in February with a melodic, West Coast-leaning bounce that felt unmistakably Nipsey. "Sacrifices," with James Fauntleroy, followed earlier this month with a more reflective tone. The third, "All Summer" featuring BH, dropped this week alongside a visual that underscores the album's intention: not a memorial, but a continuation.
The estate has paired the album release with Prolific, a clothing line built entirely from archival photography of Nipsey rather than the broader streetwear aesthetic that defined earlier Marathon drops. Handwritten graphics, signature typography and messaging tied to his independent grind and South LA roots run through heavyweight tees, hoodies, zip-up jackets and hats. It reads less like merchandise and more like a wearable timeline of a life that never stopped building.
On August 13, the night before release, LA's The Novo will host Prolific: The Experience, an intimate listening session followed by a live Bino Rideaux performance and a panel conversation with producers and collaborators. For a legacy built on the principle that the marathon continues, the timing feels deliberate: the album lands on his birthday, surrounded by the community that shaped it.
