Park Hyatt has never done all-inclusive. In more than four decades of defining urban luxury and destination refinement, the brand has stayed firmly in traditional hotel territory. That changes on 8 January 2027, when Park Hyatt Riviera Maya opens its doors between Cancun and Puerto Morelos and rewrites what all-inclusive can look like.
Inside the AMAI Enclave
Set within AMAI, a private enclave of luxury retreats on Mexico's Caribbean coast, the resort is surrounded by mangroves and tropical vegetation rather than the sprawling hotel zones that define much of the Riviera Maya. Puerto Morelos remains one of the quieter pockets of the Mexican Caribbean, a fishing town with a small centre and one of the region's most important reef systems just offshore. Cancun International Airport is within straightforward reach, but the setting feels intentionally removed from it all.
The design draws on traditional Mexican construction and craft techniques. Regionally sourced materials, furniture and millwork by Yucatan-based artisans, and selected works from local artists give the interiors a sense of place that goes beyond surface decoration. The dialogue between indoor and outdoor spaces feels distinctly Mexican, not just a luxury template transplanted to the coast.
148 Rooms, Seven Venues, One Penthouse
All 148 rooms and suites face the Caribbean Sea. A selection comes with private swimming and plunge pools on balconies and terraces, and the crown jewel is a 230-square-metre penthouse designed for guests who want the ultimate in privacy and space. Plunge pools, soaking tubs and outdoor living areas run across several categories.
Culinary programming is central to the experience, as it should be for a brand that has built its reputation on food. Seven restaurant and bar concepts include IK'AL, a beachfront restaurant built around seafood and Yucatecan flavours. The Botanist cocktail bar and a Mexican-bean-focused coffee concept round out the offering. This is a la carte, not buffet-first, which is where the all-inclusive category is heading at the top end.
Beachfront Pools and Open-Air Wellness
A beachfront pool lined with private cabanas faces the Caribbean. Nayade Spa and Wellness features an open-air spa garden, hydrotherapy suite and treatment rooms offering therapies inspired by local wellbeing traditions. Preferred access to El Tinto Golf Course sits nearby for those who want to get off property.
As Tamara Lohan MBE, Global Brand Leader for Luxury at Hyatt puts it, the combination of Park Hyatt refinement with all-inclusive ease is exactly the kind of luxury stay guests have been waiting to book.
The Riviera Maya property is the first of a wave of Park Hyatt openings. Park Hyatt Mexico City follows in early 2027, with Park Hyatt Phu Quoc and Park Hyatt Vancouver also on the horizon. For now, though, all eyes are on a stretch of Caribbean coast where the most exclusive name in Hyatt's portfolio is about to prove that all-inclusive does not mean compromising on anything.
