Rod Wave has spent the summer building serious momentum. The Florida rapper and singer just released Hustle, the second official single from his forthcoming seventh studio album Don't Look Down, and it is a statement of intent. Over melodic guitar lines and hard-hitting drums from producers TnTXD, Dmac and camm, Rod Wave reflects on the grind that got him here and the responsibility of staying at the top. The hook says it plainly: "I'm a hustler baby. Look what grinding did for me."
Directed by Cam Grey and produced through Rod Wave's own Mainstay Films, the Hustle video takes a cinematic approach rather than the standard rap visual playbook. It follows Rod Wave through meetings, business decisions and the demands of managing a growing empire. NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal makes a surprise appearance, underscoring just how far the St Petersburg native has come from the streets that shaped him.
The single arrives ahead of Don't Look Down, set for release on August 28 through Alamo Records. It marks Rod Wave's first full-length since 2024's Last Lap, which debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 and notched his fifth consecutive Top 3 entry alongside a fourth straight number one on the Top R&B and Hip Hop Albums chart. The album trailer, also produced by Mainstay Films, stars Rod Wave alongside Golden Globe-nominated actor Danny Huston, opening on a dramatic funeral scene before shifting to a boardroom where Rod delivers the project's central line: "We keep going, and we don't look down."
Following the album drop, Rod Wave heads out on the Don't Look Down Tour, a 25-city North American arena run produced by Mainstay Touring. Kicking off September 12 in Philadelphia, the route rolls through Nashville, Detroit, Chicago, Brooklyn, Houston, Dallas, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale and more before wrapping November 19 in Atlanta. Several cities have already added second dates due to demand, with R&B artist Fridayy joining as special guest across the entire run.
For an artist who built a loyal following through deeply personal records and raw storytelling, Hustle signals a shift.
