No one does a press tour quite like Zendaya. In a summer that saw her promote both Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day back to back, the actor and her longtime stylist, the self-described image architect Law Roach, delivered a masterclass in what has come to be known as method dressing: building a wardrobe around the themes and mythology of each film.

The Odyssey tour was steeped in classical references. It opened in London on July 5 with a custom Jacquemus ivory column dress inspired by ancient Greek draping, accessorised with 1st Millennium gold discs mounted by Glenn Spiro. The following night brought the look that stopped fashion in its tracks: a Schiaparelli breastplate gown with a glazed porcelain-effect bodice and an LED-illuminated cascading fringe skirt, pulled from Daniel Roseberry's autumn 2026 couture collection mere hours after it went down the Paris runway. Roach literally flew to Paris, collected the dress, and rushed it back to London on a private jet.

The Paris photo-call channeled Audrey Hepburn with a vintage Givenchy haute couture piece from Alexander McQueen's spring 1997 collection, paired with a Philip Treacy gold face mask that mirrored the Eiffel Tower behind her. In New York, the stakes went higher still. Roach had placed the Matieres Fecales "Ange" gown on hold for nearly two years after seeing it close the brand's debut show. The ruched, feather-trimmed white gown with sculptural wings extending from its train was worth the wait, a look so transporting it rendered the red carpet almost irrelevant. The custom heelless Matieres Fecales x Christian Louboutin shoes, with a sculptural wedge creating the illusion of an invisible heel, sealed the fantasy.

Then came Spider-Man, and the palette shifted from white and gold to black, red and web. Armani's spring 1990 spider-web gown for the Rome photo-call. A John Galliano spring 1997 celestial dress with a beaded web sprawled across her back for London. Versace's fall 1997 crystal-encrusted colour-block set. A $34.99 eBay Marvel tee styled as a dress in Paris, proving method dressing could have a sense of humour. And a finale in Los Angeles: a black Ashi Studio satin gown with structural corset and flowing train, accessorised with Boucheron earrings and custom Louboutin pumps featuring crystal spiders on the toe and heel.

What sets Zendaya's press tours apart is not just the ambition of each look but the storytelling discipline. Every outfit carried a reference, a callback or a narrative thread. The archival pulls demonstrated deep fashion literacy: Versace 1997, Givenchy 1997, Galliano 1997, Armani 1990. The fresh-off-the-runway moments, from Schiaparelli to Ashi Studio's 200-hour handcrafted gown, showed that couture houses now view Zendaya as a priority client. Together, she and Roach turned every photocall and premiere into a gallery opening, and the red carpet into a runway worth watching.
